Samen zijn jullie een zichtbaar en toegankelijk aanspreekpunt voor studenten en omwonenden. Je krijgt veel ruimte om zelfstandig te werken en eigen idee\u00ebn en initiatieven in te brengen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Het Guesthouse van de Universiteit Maastricht biedt ruim 900 kamers op 11 locaties in Maastricht aan internationale studenten. Jaarlijks wonen hier ongeveer 1.800 studenten, meestal voor een periode van drie tot twaalf maanden. Als Housing Officer ben je samen met je collega verantwoordelijk voor een goede begeleiding van onze gasten en een prettige woon- en leefomgeving. Je ben een zichtbaar en toegankelijk anspreekpunt voor onze gasten. Je zorgt ervoor dat studenten niet alleen een kamer hebben, maar zich ook thuis voelen, andere studenten ontmoeten en zich verbonden voelen met de stad en de community. Je hebt veel persoonlijk contact en weet wat er speelt. Tegelijkertijd houd je oog voor de bredere woon- en leefomgeving.<\/p>\n<p>Community Building en student wellbeing vormen een belangrijk onderdeel van je werk. Je organiseert laagdrempelige activiteiten waarmee studenten elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, nieuwe mensen leren kennen en Maastricht ontdekken. Je denkt mee over manieren om studenten zich betrokken, verbonden en ondersteund te laten voelen tijdens hun verblijf. Tegelijkertijd ben jij ook egene die het gesprek aangaat wanneer zaken minder vanzelfsprekend verlopen. The grower of the future will increasingly rely on integrated digital systems that combine practical expertise with real-time feedback and predictive insights.<\/p>\n<p>At BFFI, we aim to improve CEA system design and crop management by developing technologies that serve plants, people, and planet. By integrating data from plant sensors, production systems, and environmental conditions into advanced models and dashboards, we seek to deepen our understanding of crop performance and enable more precise and sustainable cultivation strategies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you do<\/strong><br \/>In this position, you will work within a European collaborative project focused on developing advanced sensing and modeling approaches for CEA systems. Your research will involve the deployment of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>non-invasive sensors to monitor canopy light interception in greenhouse environments,<\/li>\n<li>spectral sensing in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) range to estimate sugar and starch content, chlorophyll levels, and plant water status,<\/li>\n<li>AI-based computer vision systems to monitor crop development,<\/li>\n<li>integrated sensing frameworks that combine multiple data streams into efficient decision-support tools for growers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The data collected through these approaches will be integrated into crop growth and transpiration models and combined with other monitoring systems. Initial experiments will be conducted in university growth chambers and greenhouse facilities, followed by validation in commercial-scale greenhouse operations in both the Netherlands and Belgium, ensuring a strong link between fundamental research and practical application.
