Je vertaalt complexe filosofische en wetenschappelijke idee\u00ebn naar boodschappen die mensen echt raken - vooral studenten. Je weet hoe je hen bereikt en in beweging krijgt. Je bouwt campagnes rond onze programmalijnen, events, lezingen, workshops en het festival For Love Of The World. Je denkt mee over hoe we relevanter worden, scherper kunnen communiceren en meer mensen kunnen bereiken. Je krijgt de ruimte om te experimenteren. Je bent zichtbaar in de organisatie, aanwezig bij programma\u2019s en gesprekken en bouwt actief aan relaties met studenten, makers en partners. De Library helpt bij het vinden van waardevolle kennis die nodig is voor onderwijs en onderzoek, en bij het publiceren en bewaren van de gegenereerde kennis van de TU Delft. We vinden het belangrijk dat kennis gemakkelijk toegankelijk is en vrij beschikbaar is voor iedereen. Zo kan kennis vrijelijk gaan stromen en de kennis van de TU Delft van waarde worden voor anderen. In de Library kan iedereen ook altijd terecht om in alle rust te studeren. Dit past bij onze inclusieve organisatie. De Library heeft drie strategische thema\u2019s gekozen als leidraad voor haar dagelijkse werkzaamheden. 1) Open Science. We hebben een belangrijke bijdrage in het TU Delft brede strategische programma \u201cOpen Science \u2013 Research and Education in the Open Era\u201d. 2) Zichtbaarheid en impact. Met onze expertise en tools op het gebied van research datamanagement, research intelligence en publiceren, vergroten we de vindbaarheid, zichtbaarheid en impact van TU Delft-kennis. 3) Inspirerende leer- en werkomgeving. Door middel van een prikkelende programmering laten we zien hoe vrij beschikbare en betrouwbare kennis het leven rijker maakt. TU Delft leads its task on AI-ready training and evaluation pipelines using real and synthetic data. Public authorities cannot ship their data to a central trainer, the participants in such a pipeline cannot all be assumed honest, and the models they increasingly want to deploy are LLM-based, whose failures are semantic rather than crashes.<\/p>\n<p>We aim to build training and inference pipelines that work across administrative boundaries, and evaluation methods that say something honest about how far they can be trusted. Initial concrete task ideas include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>design decentralized and federated pipelines that combine real and synthetic data across organisational boundaries without a central aggregator, under controlled mixing strategies that address data scarcity and distribution shift;<\/li>\n<li>make them resilient to Byzantine participants, and to poisoning of the synthetic data supply;<\/li>\n<li>quantify what leaks: membership inference and reconstruction against models trained on real-synthetic mixes, and the utility cost of differentially private generation;<\/li>\n<li>treat LLM-based components as a distributed system: replicate inference across diverse models, study how their failures correlate, and use quorum and semantic-agreement mechanisms to turn individually unreliable answers into trustworthy ones;<\/li>\n<li>build the evaluation side: benchmarks, cross-validation schemes, reporting protocols \u2014 covering accuracy, robustness, bias, generalisation and privacy leakage, released as open, reproducible software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will be based at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS), in the Distributed Systems group of the Department of Software Technology, supervised by Dr J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Decouchant, whose work spans Byzantine fault tolerance, decentralized learning and trustworthy AI systems. And how does their behaviour change under dynamic loading? In this PhD project, you will develop experimental and optical measurement methods to answer these questions and support the safe introduction of hydrogen-based aviation technologies. Hydrogen has significant potential as an alternative aviation fuel, but its storage requires substantially more volume than jet fuel and the use of cylindrical tanks. Integrating these tanks into the aircraft fuselage makes their structural integrity crucial to passenger safety. Yet we still lack a fundamental understanding of how aerospace materials behave at cryogenic temperatures, particularly in contact with hydrogen and across different strain rates.<\/p>\n<p>You will investigate deformation mechanisms, strain localisation and damage from quasi-static to dynamic loading. A central challenge is developing optical testing methods that remain accurate despite the large temperature gradients present in cryogenic experiments. You will explore full-field techniques such as digital image correlation, speckle and grid methods, interferometry, digital holography, structured-light and fringe projection, deflectometry, pattern tracking, high-speed imaging and thermography. Complementary photonic sensing approaches, such as fibre Bragg grating sensors, may also be considered. Your research will determine which optical measurement techniques can reliably capture deformation and damage under cryogenic conditions, how experimental constraints can be overcome, and how strain rate influences material behaviour. The resulting experimental data will be used to validate numerical models and contribute to certification by analysis of future composite structures.<\/p>\n<p>The project is part of the Dutch Aviation Systems Analysis Lab (DASAL), a collaboration between TU Delft and Royal NLR within the Dutch Luchtvaart in Transitie programme. You will be based in the Optical Metrology for Aerospace (OMA) and Design of Structures research groups within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/en\/ae\/organisation\/departments\/aerospace-structures-materials\">Aerospace Structures &amp; Materials (ASM) department<\/a> at TU Delft\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tudelft.nl\/en\/ae\">Faculty of Aerospace Engineering<\/a>. OMA is a young, interdisciplinary and international research group focusing on optical instrumentation, interferometry and photonics for optical metrology applications. You will be supervised by Dr Andrei Anisimov and Dr Saullo Castro. You will publish your findings, present them at conferences and project meetings, and communicate with both scientific and industrial audiences.
