Management Assistent GER/ Religiewetenschappen en Hermetica

Je bent het eerste aanspreekpunt voor de medewerkers binnen de organisatie en voor contacten van buiten. Zo ondersteun je collega’s en treed je op als gastvrouw/-heer voor bezoekers. Je verricht algemene secretariële en administratieve taken in samenwerking met de vijf andere management assistenten en maakt deel uit van het managementassistententeam van de afdeling GER.

Taken en verantwoordelijkheden:

• Zelfstandig uitvoeren van algemene secretariële, organisatorische en beheersmatige werkzaamheden (denk aan: behandeling inkomende e-mail, post en telefoon, het boeken van zalen en catering, het aanschaffen van kantoorartikelen en meubilair, postzaken, etc.);
• Fungeren als eerste aanspreekpunt voor medewerkers en bezoekers;
• Organiseren en inhoudelijk notuleren van vergaderingen binnen de afdeling vergaderingen van programmateams of van capaciteitsgroepen
• Voorbereiden en begeleiden van evenementen (seminars, lezingen e.d.), regelen van accommodatie en tickets voor internationale gasten;
• Ondersteuning bij sollicitaties;
• Gebouw- en werkplekbeheer (interne verhuizingen).
• het organiseren van de cyclus van jaargesprekken inclusief bewaking van archivering van verslagen van jaar- en beoordelingsgesprekken;
• het ondersteunen van hoofd en assistent bedrijfsvoering bij personeelswerk en/of financiën, zoals het opstellen van aanmeldings- en mutatieformulieren of het verzamelen van gegevens voor financiële overzichten en begrotingen.

Directiesecretaris Bibliotheek UvA/HvA

Als directiesecretaris ga je werkzaamheden uitvoeren op secretarieel, bestuurlijk-organisatorisch en beleidsvoorbereidend gebied voor de Bibliotheek UvA/HvA. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de voorbereiding en verslaglegging van formele bestuurlijke overleggen en begeleiding van besluitvormingsprocessen. Ook ondersteun je de directeur van de Bibliotheek bij de inhoudelijke voorbereiding van bestuurlijke overleggen. Je hebt een spilfunctie; je organiseert en implementeert besluitvorming over beleid en je zorgt voor communicatie met de staf, medewerkers en andere betrokkenen.

Taken en verantwoordelijkheden

• Organiseren en voorbereiden van de vergaderingen van directie, inclusief verslaglegging.
• Fungeren als adviseur op het gebied van governance, met aandacht voor communicatie en compliance in het medezeggenschapsdossier.
• Bewaken van het proces van goede en zorgvuldige besluitvorming.
• Bewaken van de uitvoering, opvolging en evaluatie van besluiten die door directie genomen zijn.
• Optreden als 'oliemannetje' en collectief geweten van de Bibliotheek, bijvoorbeeld bij de Q rapportages.
• Beheren van vertrouwelijke documenten en strategische dossiers.
• Samen met het hoofd communicatie adviseren van de directeur in communicatiekwesties.
• Samen met het hoofd communicatie voorbereiden van kwalitatief goede communicatiematerialen.
• Strategisch beheren van de agenda van de directeur.
• Organiseren van strategische bijeenkomsten.
• Beheren van kritieke administratieve processen (mandaten beheren en Corsa) en besluitvormingstrajecten.

PhD Position in Evolutionary Biology

Genomic studies have revealed that hybridization, that is interbreeding between taxa, is more common than previously thought. Furthermore, rates of hybridization are predicted to increase with on-going climate change. Hybridization is a dramatic process that can have extreme outcomes ranging from extinction to accelerated adaptation. However, the determinants of deleterious and adaptive outcomes of hybridization and their predictability are unknown.

In this project you will investigate the impact of hybridization on adaptation and population persistence using experimental evolution in spider mites. EPB has longstanding expertise in working with spider mites and good facilities for mite experiments. You will learn to design experiments and manage projects, conduct behavioral experiments and combine experimental data with models. You will also develop skills in population genomics.

Responsibilities and opportunities

Assistant Professor International Criminal Law

Your core tasks in this position are to teach and develop education in the field of international criminal law, to conduct research and to fulfil administrative tasks.

Within and in addition to these core tasks, as an assistant professor you will join us and take on a pivotal role in the LLM master program in International Criminal Law. As part of this dynamic position, you'll oversee LLM theses within the realm of international criminal law. Additionally, you'll be tasked with coordinating courses in international and comparative criminal law, including delivering lectures and seminars.

Beyond teaching responsibilities, you'll handle various administrative and organizational duties for the department, section, and faculty. This may involve participation in program committees, examination committees, and more. Furthermore, you'll conduct and publish high-quality research in the field of international criminal law, contributing valuable insights to the academic community.

Assistant Professor in Global Media Histories

You will provide education in a dynamic context with ample opportunities for the development of innovative teaching methods. Your research will be part of the Amsterdam School of Historical Studies (ASH), one of the five research schools of the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research (AIHR). You will also be expected to participate in a faculty-wide interdisciplinary team focused on strengthening the position of language and culture in the Faculty of Humanities.

As an Assistant Professor in Global Media Histories, you will contribute to the relevant BA and MA programmes in the Media Studies Department with your research and teaching expertise in global media histories as well as your strong grounding in postcolonial/decolonial approaches, preferably extending to the contemporary legacy of colonial media histories. Further research interests in the practices of storytelling through audio-visual language and/or multilingualism connect this position to cross-faculty research on the theme of Language and Culture. A research focus on African, South Asian or South American contexts is especially welcome.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• designing and conducting independent research on global media histories from a decolonial, multilingual and/or storytelling perspective, resulting in academic publications in peer-reviewed international journals and/or books;
• actively pursuing external funding for research, notably funding from research councils, national as well as European;
• actively contributing to and developing national and international research networks and other forms of cooperation;
• actively contributing to the research activities of ASH, in particular to one of its research groups such as Modern History; Kazan, Cairo, Cordoba; Digital History; and/or contributing to new initiatives on colonial/decolonial histories;
• actively contributing with your research to the faculty-wide interdisciplinary team in Language and Culture;
• developing, coordinating and teaching courses in both Dutch and English, in the Bachelor and Master programmes;
• supervising Bachelor and Master theses and tutoring students; co-supervising PhD theses;
• actively contributing to the development and improvement of the broader teaching programmes in the department;
• taking part in committees and working groups, and carrying out departmental administrative tasks as directed.
