De Technische Universiteit Eindhoven zoekt een Locatiemanager die namens Campus & Facilities het eerste aanspreekpunt is voor de Managing Director (MD) van de faculteiten en andere gebruikers van één of meer gebouwenclusters op de campus.

Functieomschrijving
Als Locatiemanager Facilitair & Huisvesting ben je de schakel tussen de faculteiten en Campus & Facilities. Je zorgt dat vragen, signalen en ontwikkelingen uit de praktijk goed landen binnen C&F en dat de juiste expertise op het juiste moment wordt ingezet.

Je kijkt daarbij breder dan alleen de dagelijkse facilitaire dienstverlening. Ook onderwerpen als huisvesting, ruimtegebruik, gebruikersbehoeften, veranderingen in de organisatie, kwaliteit dienstverlening contractpartners en gebouw gebonden vraagstukken horen bij jouw werkterrein.

Je hoeft niet zelf overal de specialist in te zijn. Wel ben je een betrouwbare gesprekspartner voor de MD en andere stakeholders, en weet je hoe je collega’s binnen C&F aanhaakt om samen tot goede oplossingen en adviezen te komen.

Je combineert in deze functie verschillende rollen: aanspreekpunt, adviseur, leidinggevende, projectmanager en verbinder.

Wat ga je doen?

Je bent aanspreekpunt en adviseur voor de faculteit

• Je onderhoudt actief contact met betrokkenen binnen de faculteit of het gebouwencluster en stemt af met de MD. Je weet wat er speelt, welke ontwikkelingen eraan komen en welke vragen dat oproept op het gebied van facilitaire dienstverlening, huisvesting en gebruik van de omgeving.
• Je denkt mee, stelt de juiste vragen en helpt om behoeften, knelpunten en kansen scherp te krijgen. Waar nodig schakel je collega’s binnen C&F in, zodat expertise uit de organisatie goed benut wordt en adviezen breed en goed onderbouwd zijn. Tegelijk breng je relevante signalen en ontwikkelingen vanuit de faculteit terug in de organisatie, zodat ook binnen C&F tijdig kan worden meegedacht en doorontwikkeld.

Je verbindt gebruikers en Campus & Facilities

• Je bent namens C&F de intermediair tussen gebruikers en de centrale organisatie. Je zorgt dat signalen worden opgepakt, dat verwachtingen helder zijn en dat onderwerpen op de juiste plek terechtkomen. Daarbij gaat het niet alleen om het vertalen van vragen vanuit de faculteit naar C&F, maar ook om het helpen versterken van de aansluiting van C&F op wat er in de praktijk nodig is.
• Daarbij beweeg je je in een omgeving waarin verschillende belangen, wensen en prioriteiten samenkomen. Juist daarom is het belangrijk dat je zorgvuldig communiceert, goed luistert, helder afstemt en verbinding weet te houden, ook als belangen niet vanzelf samenvallen. Hierbij ben je ook de verbindende schakel richting de verschillende contractpartners van C&F.

Je geeft leiding aan het facilitair team

• Je geeft leiding aan een team van facilitair medewerkers binnen jouw cluster. Samen vormen jullie het team dat dicht op de gebruikers zit en zichtbaar is in de gebouwen.
• Je zorgt voor duidelijke aansturing, ondersteunt medewerkers in hun dagelijkse werk en draagt actief bij aan hun ontwikkeling. Je helpt het team om steeds meer proactief te werken, met oog voor kwaliteit, veiligheid, gebruikservaring en opvolging. Daarbij werk je volgens de lijn: Signaleren, Activeren en Monitoren. Je ondersteunt de verdere ontwikkeling van deze manier van werken in de praktijk.

Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de kwaliteit van de dienstverlening

• Je coördineert samen met de facilitair medewerkers de kwaliteit van de dienstverlening van Campus & Facilities, borgt de onderlinge samenwerking en bewaakt of de gemaakte contractafspraken met externe contractpartners conform afspraak geleverd worden. Hierin werk je nauw samen met de contractmanager die de externe contracten beheert. Voor een aantal contracten ben je het operationele aanspreekpunt en maak je op het moment dat een nieuwe overeenkomst gesloten wordt deel uit van het projectteam bij (Europese) aanbestedingen.

Je draagt bij aan verdere ontwikkeling van de werkwijze

• Je levert een bijdrage aan de doorontwikkeling van de samenwerking tussen de clusters, de faculteiten en Campus & Facilities. Je ziet waar het slimmer, duidelijker of beter kan en helpt om verbeteringen in werkwijze, afstemming en dienstverlening in gang te zetten. Daarmee heb je niet alleen een rol in de dagelijkse praktijk, maar ook in de verdere ontwikkeling van de organisatie.

Je bent projectmanager en projectpartner

• Projectmanagement is een wezenlijk onderdeel van deze functie. Je bent betrokken bij projecten op het gebied van huisvesting, verbouwingen, interne verhuizingen, inrichting en dienstverlening.
• In sommige situaties werk je samen met andere projectmanagers of inhoudelijke specialisten. In andere gevallen neem je zelf het initiatief en geef je leiding aan een project. Je kunt projecten opzetten, structureren en begeleiden, inclusief het opstellen van een PID en een projectuitvoeringsplan.

Functie-eisen
Wat breng je mee?
Je bent iemand die makkelijk beweegt in een complexe omgeving en stevig genoeg is om te schakelen tussen verschillende niveaus en belangen. Je begrijpt hoe organisaties werken, communiceert zorgvuldig en overtuigend en weet relaties op te bouwen met uiteenlopende gesprekspartners.

Daarnaast breng je mee:

• Minimaal HBO werk- en denkniveau.
• Bij voorkeur een opleiding in de richting van Facility Management, Bedrijfskunde of vergelijkbaar.
• Meerdere jaren relevante werkervaring in een facilitaire, huisvestings- of andere dienstverlenende omgeving.
• Ervaring met het aansturen van medewerkers én met het bijdragen aan hun ontwikkeling.
• Aantoonbare ervaring met projectmatig werken en projectmanagement.
• Het vermogen om goed te schakelen tussen operationele vragen, tactische afwegingen en advies richting management
• Sterk ontwikkelde organisatiesensitiviteit.
• Zeer goede communicatieve en relationele vaardigheden.
• Gevoel voor samenwerking, belangenafweging en bestuurlijke verhoudingen.
• Een proactieve, praktische en verbindende werkstijlervaring in een grote, dynamische en kennisintensieve organisatie is een pré.
• Je communiceert goed in het Nederlands en Engels, mondeling en schriftelijk[DP1][IV2] .
• Je bent bereid om werktijden waar nodig enigszins flexibel in te vullen, bijvoorbeeld bij bijzondere situaties of activiteiten.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden
Een boeiende positie binnen een internationale en tegelijkertijd persoonlijke universiteit. Je zit midden tussen de studenten, op een groene campus op loopafstand van het centraal station. Daarnaast bieden we jou:

• Een maandsalaris van minimaal € 3.546,- en maximaal € 5.538,- bij een fulltime dienstverband, afhankelijk van jouw kennis en ervaring (schaal 10 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten).

PhD in Visual Analytics for Historical Paintings

Introduction
We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to develop innovative visual analytics methods for the study of historical paintings in an interdisciplinary research environment. You will contribute to the development of state‑of‑the‑art methods that advance the analysis of complex, multi‑dimensional imaging data and enable richer exploration of historical paintings in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum.

Job Description
Paintings are examined to understand artistic processes, support conservation, and aid authentication. Modern scientific imaging techniques now generate large volumes of complex data that can reveal new insights for art historians, conservators, and the broader public. Among these techniques, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) imaging provides detailed information on the distribution of chemical elements across paint layers, giving unique access to pigments, mixtures, and underlying compositions. The resulting datasets are high‑dimensional and spatially rich, posing significant analytical challenges.

The generation of the high-dimensional images themselves follows a complex pre-processing from the raw scans usually to chemical components. Information is lost and uncertainty is added in the process.

Visual analytics offers promising ways to interpret such high‑dimensional imaging (HDI) data, yet dedicated methodologies tailored to paintings remain underdeveloped. This PhD project aims to create interactive visual analysis frameworks and methods that enable reliable, interpretable exploration of multimodal painting data, with a strong focus on XRF‑derived HDI. The project will deliver new visual analytics techniques and prototype tools that support the study of pictorial artworks.

It is expected that the candidate will author high-quality scientific papers and showcase outputs of this work at international conference. The candidate will also implement open-source software prototypes to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

This position is part of a collaboration between the Visualization Cluster (https://research.tue.nl/en/organisations/visualization-3/) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and the Van Gogh Museum. TU/e provides leading expertise in visual analytics, scientific visualization, Explainable AI and the analysis of complex imaging datasets. It has generated several award winning contributions at major visualization conferences (IEEE VIS, IEEE InfoVis, IEEE VAST, EuroVis). The Van Gogh Museum, one of the world’s foremost cultural heritage institutions, increasingly acquires such data in its research on the Van Gogh collection. This partnership offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge digital heritage research at the intersection of science, technology, and the arts.

The project will be developed within the visualization cluster van Gogh Museum under the supervision of Prof. Anna Vilanova (a.vilanova@tue.nl), dr. Sarah Schöttler, and dr. Ana Teixeira Martins (van Gogh Museum).

Job Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following requirements:

• You are enthusiastic about research in visual analytics, visualization and arts.
• You have experience with or a strong background in visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, and/or machine learning. Preferably you finished a master in Computer Science, (Applied) Mathematics or related masters.
• Expertise in the field of visualization or visual analytics.
• You have good communication skills and are able to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• You have strong programming skills (e.g., C++, Python, …).
• You are creative, critical, analytical, motivated and persistent.
• You have a good command of the English language (knowledge of Dutch is not required).

Conditions of Employment

Modern cyber-physical systems (CPS), such as semiconductor manufacturing machines and advanced mechatronic systems, rely on ultra-reliable, low-latency, and deterministic communication between distributed sensors, controllers, and actuators. Ensuring such performance under dynamic workloads, strict real-time constraints, and limited computational resources remains a key technical challenge. This PhD project addresses these challenges by developing efficient optimization methods for run-time network configuration and control. You will design efficient and lightweight learning-based techniques for automated scheduling, network resource allocation, and parameter setting, enabling fast and predictable adaptation with minimal overhead. A central focus is the co-design of algorithms with edge hardware and embedded platforms. You will investigate implementation strategies that account for limited compute, timing constraints, and energy efficiency, bridging theory and deployable solutions. This includes integration of wired and wireless communication technologies and support for run-time adaptation and fault resilience. The developed concepts will be validated through prototyping and experimental evaluation in realistic setups or digital twins, with performance assessed in terms of latency, reliability, and scalability, in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

Research group and lab:
The position will be hosted by the Networked Embedded Systems (NES-Lab) research Lab in the Electronic Systems (ES) group of the Electrical Engineering department. The ES group is a top research group and is world-renowned for its design automation and embedded systems research. Our ambition is to provide a scientific basis for design trajectories of electronic systems, ranging from digital circuits to cyber-physical systems. The trajectories are constructive and lead to high-quality, cost-effective systems with predictable properties (functionality, timing, reliability, power dissipation, and cost). Design trajectories for applications that have strict real-time requirements and stringent power constraints are an explicit focus point of the group. NES-Lab focusses on design, analysis, and optimization of reliable and low-power embedded networks as a main building block of the Internet-of-Things (IoT).

Job Requirements

• A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• A research-oriented attitude.
• Solid background in machine learning and optimization methods.
• Knowledge and experience in (wireless) communication and networking technologies, embedded system design, and computer programming (C++, Python, etc.).
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and interested in collaborating with industrial partners.
• Motivated to develop your teaching skills and coach students.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Conditions of Employment
