What will your job look like?
Paediatric Urology at Maastricht UMC+ is a tertiary referral centre serving an area that extends well beyond the province of Limburg. For more than 20 years, the department has played a pioneering role in the development of laparoscopic and robot-assisted techniques, as well as conventional surgical procedures, including innovative hypospadias repair techniques.

The future colleague will be expected to become fully involved in the outpatient, inpatient and surgical activities of the department, building on this tradition and, in time, contributing to further expertise or expanding the department’s areas of specialisation. Ample opportunity will also be provided for professional development in scientific research, undergraduate teaching, postgraduate medical training and management.

The role of paediatric urologist also includes involvement in the urological aspects of transitional care for patients moving from paediatric to adult healthcare. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the department’s general on-call rota, which includes the treatment of adult patients. The proportion of the position devoted to adult patient care is estimated at 0.2 FTE.

The Department of Urology at Maastricht UMC+ is part of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre. It occupies a unique position in the Netherlands, as it combines its academic responsibilities with the provision of general urological care for the surrounding region. This results in a highly diverse patient population.

Within the Department of Urology, we treat children with congenital and acquired disorders of the urogenital tract. Our approach focuses not only on individual patient care, but also on strong multidisciplinary collaboration, extending from prenatal diagnostics through to the transition to adult healthcare. The Department of Urology is actively involved in, and plays a leading role within, the Maastricht UMC+ focus areas of Neurourology and Neuromodulation.

The Paediatric Urology team works closely with other specialties, including Paediatric Nephrology and Paediatric Surgery.

Paediatric Urology is one of the five core pillars of the Department of Urology at Maastricht UMC+. As part of the urology training programme, a resident is continuously assigned to the paediatric urology rotation or subspecialty placement. This ensures that medical education and knowledge transfer are firmly embedded in daily clinical practice.

As our new colleague, you will become part of a team of two paediatric urologists as well as the wider Urology medical staff. The department is also highly active in education and postgraduate training and conducts extensive scientific research, both within Maastricht UMC+ and in collaboration with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University.

Verpleegkundig Specialist in opleiding HPB Chirurgie

Wat ga je doen?
Binnen de medische afdeling Chirurgie krijg je de mogelijkheid om een volgende stap in jouw loopbaanontwikkeling te zetten, namelijk het volgen van de opleiding tot Verpleegkundig Specialist (VS). Per februari/maart 2027 start je als verpleegkundige met de voorwerkperiode binnen de medische afdeling Chirurgie. Je krijgt de gelegenheid om in te werken in het deelspecialisme HPB (Hepato Pancreato Biliaire) Chirurgie en de praktijk te leren kennen. Per 1 september 2027 ga je starten met de opleiding tot Verpleegkundig Specialist die 2 jaar in beslag neemt. Tijdens het volgen van de opleiding heb je jaarlijks 40 lesweken, met wekelijks 1 lesdag en 1 studiedag. De overige dagen van de week word je opgeleid in het werkveld.

De HPB Chirurgie behoort tot een van de speerpunten van het MUMC+. De zorg die wordt geleverd, kenmerkt zich als hoog complexe medische zorg. Dit komt tot uiting in het coördineren van de kwaliteitszorg,, zorgvernieuwing en professionalisering vanuit het specifieke aandachtsgebied cure and care.

In de functie van Verpleegkundig Specialist participeer je in de zorgpaden colorectaal carcinoom, pancreascarcinoom, galweg- en galblaascarcinoom en hepatocellulair carcinoom. Daarnaast draag je als VS bij aan de coördinatie en de psychosociale zorg tijdens en na de behandeling van de patiënt. De VS participeert in de spreekuurgesprekken van de chirurg met de patiënt en heeft een eigen spreekuur ten behoeve van een poliklinische intake, preoperatieve screening en optimalisatie, alsmede voor postoperatieve follow-up, wondzorg, drainzorg en vaccinaties.

Samen met de administratief medewerker en de casemanager zorg je ervoor dat de bijbehorende administratieve taken worden afgehandeld.
Kort samengevat: De VS verbindt medische besluitvorming met intensieve patiëntbegeleiding. De focus ligt op kwaliteit, continuïteit en veilige zorg binnen de hele keten.

Hoe ziet je werkomgeving eruit?
De medische afdeling Chirurgie bestaat uit een aantal deelgebieden, waaronder de HPB Chirurgie. Binnen de medische afdeling wordt inhoud gegeven aan patiëntenzorg, onderzoek, opleiding en onderwijs.

Binnen de sectie HPB zijn 7 chirurgen en 1 fellow werkzaam, alsmede een specialistisch verpleegkundige en een OK planner/administratief medewerker. Binnen jouw werksetting werk je verder samen met de medisch oncologen, MDL artsen, interventieradiologen, arts assistenten en andere ondersteuners in het zorgproces.

Binnen het Maastrichtse wordt de volledige breedte van de HPB chirurgie uitgevoerd, dat wil zeggen dat het volledig pallet aan goed- en kwaadaardige aandoeningen van de lever, alvleesklier en de galwegen wordt behandeld.

Kinderverpleegkundige (in opleiding)

Wat ga je doen?
Je gaat werken in het MosaKids Kinderziekenhuis. Daar ga jij je, net zoals iedereen binnen ons kinderziekenhuis, inzetten voor liefdevolle kindzorg.

Dat doe je als kinderverpleegkundige of kinderverpleegkundige in opleiding door hoogcomplexe, academische verpleegkundige zorg te leveren aan kinderen tussen 0-18 jaar op de kinderafdeling en kinderdagverpleging. Je werkt daarbij niet alleen samen met de kinderartsen maar ook met alle andere specialisten binnen de kindzorg. Hierbij kun je denken aan de chirurg, neuroloog, neurochirurg, uroloog, plastisch chirurg, KNO-arts en orthopeed.

Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de regie van het zorgproces rondom jouw jonge patiënten en werkt daarvoor nauw samen met ouders en het interprofessionele team. Je wordt uitgedaagd om kritisch te kijken naar je eigen werk en onze (zorg)processen. Je signaleert knelpunten en komt met voorstellen om onze zorg nog beter te maken.

Hoe ziet je werkomgeving eruit?
De kinderafdeling heeft 20 tot 25 klinische bedden waarvan 12 medium care bedden. De kinderdagverpleging beschikt over 10 bedden/stoelen voor kinderen die komen voor een kleine academische ingreep, behandeling, medicatie of onderzoek. Traumavrije zorgverlening is één van onze speerpunten.
